Samsung has been building electronics since 1969, and today it’s one of the biggest tech companies on the planet. Phones, TVs, appliances, you name it.
So why is Samsung on a dog deals site? One little gadget: the Galaxy SmartTag2. It’s a small Bluetooth tracker that plenty of owners clip to a collar as a budget way to keep tabs on their dog.
The SmartTag2 leans on Samsung’s SmartThings Find network. When your dog wanders near someone’s Galaxy phone, you get a location update. In a busy neighborhood, that works surprisingly well for the price.
Here’s the honest part. It’s not a live GPS collar. There’s no constant tracking, and updates only come when a Galaxy device passes by. It also only works with Samsung phones, so iPhone and other Android owners are out of luck.
If you’ve got a Galaxy phone and a dog who mostly stays put, it’s a smart, cheap layer of protection. For a true escape artist, pair it with a dedicated GPS collar and use the tag as backup.
